My Dream Home NOT!

Okay, I have a little confession earlier this year I had a little obsession with the HGTV Dream Home. I entered faithfully daily and mailed in roughly (I lost track) many many entries. My hubby was ready to have me committed. LOL I Truly believed I would win. I had figured out which pieces of furniture I would keep and which rooms would need repainted. Yes, I really was getting crazy. When I found out my sister-in-law lived less than twenty minutes away I knew I had to finagle my way out there. I needed to get some measurements and figure out where I would keep my dogs (was the yard fenced) those sort of details. My fortieth bday was coming up so I told my SL I wanted to take a tour of the Dream home for my bday. So off I headed to CA.
The morning of the tour we all had to meet at a beautiful old French hotel. It was very cold and rainy that day but, nothing would deter me. This was pre-blog so I apologize for no pics of the hotel. I was a little annoyed these other people were coming with us on the tour. My dear Sl appeased me very nicely that morning. Despite my inanity. When we first got there we were a little overwhelmed by the beauty of the house. Everything was so beautiful and very shall we say looked like a decorator had done it. We were fairly calm as you will see by the pics above.
The pics below will show by the time we got to the second story we were getting a little giddy. Yes, that is me sitting on the toilet in the master bedroom. Seemed like a grand idea at the time. Not so sure now though looking back. I think our tour guide was wondering what she had done to deserve the two loony ladies on her tour. Anyway I have to say it was a lot of fun and an experience I will never forget. As you all know by now the HGTV people did not show up at my house to give me the keys. Oh well there's always next year!!

  2. Ha! Sounds like my kind of trip! It's funny...I always think about what I would keep and what I would sell in those dream homes too! I wanted to win the "green home" so bad last year, but alas, they didn't pick me...

  6. Well I do have to say that you look very good in that house! Maybe not on the toilet so much, but everywhere else. It should have been yours! Loved seeing you have such a great time.

  8. Oh my gosh you are so funny. Remember the one is Texas? With the boat house? I was convinced I was going to win it. Yup - it was mine!!

I didn't know they did tours. Was this before or after they announced the winner?

Do you know how many people who win them actually keep them? NOT MANY!I think only one so far. KInda sad.
    Fun post!

  11. YOU are a sister after my own heart!! The house was a perfect fit for you, but fate disagreed. There's always tomorrow. See, I am a dreamer too.

  13. Hi Traci!

Ditto for me....I've waited for them to come to my door to tell me I've won too. What fun to get to see the "REAL DEAL"....They have a big bonanza here called "The Street of Dreams"...it's a home showcase with 6-8 homes or so. Different decorators each do a home so they all have a different flavor. What a great place to steal ideas, and it's wonderful to actually see a whole room painted in a color you might want to do too.

  14. I compulsively enter each year with the same dream. You are so blessed to have an actual tour, live and in person. What fun :o) !!! The closest I've every gotten to that are those virtual tours on the computer. Oh, the dreams we dream....SIGH... I liked the way you make yourself queen of the palace and placed yourself upon the throne.

Have a great day beautiful dreamer and may God bless!!!

  15. I enter the Dream Home Competition faithfully every year and imagine myself living there. Sad to say I have not won but I will keep on trying. You know what they say "if you do not enter you cannot expect to win", Maureen.....
